Hunts FA Community Award Winners 2017

Six local grassroots champions from across Huntingdonshire have been named as this year's winners of The Huntingdonshire FA Community Awards, supported by McDonald's.

The local grassroots volunteers and clubs have now been shortlisted for regional recognition in this year's FA Community Awards, supported by McDonald's.

Since February people have been nominating their grassroots heroes within the county, from individual volunteers to Clubs and Leagues and the response has been fantastic.

Following the eight-week nomination period a judging panel, made up of Hunts FA and Huntingdonshire School Sport Partnership representatives selected this year's winners for their invaluable commitment to the grassroots game, week in, week out.

This year’s Huntingdonshire FA winners include:

FA Charter Standard Club of the Year 2016/17 – Somersham Town Youth FC

FA Charter Standard Community Club of the Year 2016/17 – St Ives Rangers Colts FC

FA Young Volunteer of the Year 2016/17 – Jack Badcock (St Ives Rangers Colts FC)

Coach of the Year 2016/17 – Martin Barratt (Bluntisham Blasters and St Ives Rangers Colts)

Outstanding Contribution to Community Football 2016/17 – Wendy Chambers (Hunts Mini Soccer League and St Ives Rangers FC)

Dean Watson, County Development Manager at Hunts FA: “We are fortunate to have so many fantastic clubs, leagues and volunteers who help us strive towards providing better and more footballing opportunities for players”

“We know how much work goes into football on a weekly basis and The Huntingdonshire Community Awards supported by McDonald’s allow us to say thank you to those who dedicate so much time to the game cross the county.

We wish them all the best for the next stage of the awards and hopefully they can go all the way and pick up a national award later in the year.”
