As the Communications and Office Administration Apprentice, you will be assisting the Football Services Officer with the following:

  • Assisting in the administration of the Hunts FA website - new release 1 September 2017 (same as the new website
  • Production and distribution of electronic newsletters
  • Assisting with League Administration - using on-line software to run League fixtures/results/tables/cups
  • Maintaining the email database
  • Working on the Hunts FA Facebook and Twitter accounts
  • Using in-house software packages
  • Handling telephone enquiries
  • General Office Administration duties
  • Administration of the electronic picture library

    Huntingdonshire Football Association is the guardian of our national game in Huntingdonshire. Responsible for efficiently governing and developing the local game, Hunts FA strives to positively influence participation for all in football regardless of age, ability, sex, sexual orientation, race, religion and socioeconomic status.

    This is achieved through developing programmes and opportunities for all to participate in the national game through close alignment with our governing body (The FA) via delivery of the FA National Game Strategy in Huntingdonshire. We work in accordance with The FA guidelines and sanction football in accordance with the Rules of the National Governing Body. Often described as ‘grassroots football’, participation in the ‘non-professional’ game continues to thrive in our county which is steeped in football tradition and history across all levels of the game.

    With over 450 teams and 100+ clubs, Hunts FA is responsible for providing the support structure that enables players, volunteers, coaches and referees to develop individually or as part of a club or league and most importantly, participating in a safe and enjoyable environment.     An Intermediate Level Business Administration Apprenticeship delivered through Huntingdonshire Regional College, consisting of:

    • NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration, to be delivered in the workplace
    • Functional Skills - English, Maths and ICT (if required)

    Learning Provider Description

    Huntingdonshire Regional College will coordinate and administer training for apprenticeship programmes. An Apprenticeship is a training programme for new and existing people in work aged 16 upwards. It is an excellent way to train for your career and for your employer to help you develop the skills and experience they need. Apprenticeships are nationally respected qualifications that enable you to develop a firm career foundation. There are 2 framework levels attainable: The Intermediate Apprenticeship (level 2) and the Advanced Apprenticeship (level 3) and increasingly Higher (level 4) apprenticeships are becoming available.

    In most cases training and assessment is carried out both in the workplace and at the College although some apprenticeships are delivered entirely in the workplace.

    Apprenticeships are a great option for people who want to climb the career ladder and earn whilst they learn. A Level 2 Apprenticeship is equivalent to 5 GCSE's.

    This Learning Provider has achieved a sector success rate of 85% for this type of apprenticeship training.  

    Expected Duration 18 Months

    Skills Required

    The perfect candidate for this position will possess the following essential skills:

    • IT literate
    • Have good numeracy skills
    • The ability to communicate via a range of methods, including by telephone and in writing

    Qualifications Required

    The perfect candidate for this position will have 5 GCSEs at grades A-C, including English and Maths (or equivalent)

    Important Other Information

    The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for apprentices is £3.50 per hour This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

    The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.

    Reality Check

    While this is position is within the Huntingdonshire Football Association and a general interest in football would be useful, this is an office based position and not an active football role.
