Review of Women's and Girls' Football Week

4:37 PM, Tuesday, 30 June 09. Women and Girls

As part of The FA Women's and Girls' Football Week there were plenty of activities taking place across our county last week

Huntingdonshire FA joined forces with Hinchingbrooke School to run a Primary Schools Festival on Wednesday 24 June. Children had the chance to try different sports spread over the morning and afternoon.

Andy Coles, Hunts FA's Football Development Officer and Matty Haniver, Community Coach, mentored the Hinchingbrooke Schools Young Leaders (picture right) who put on the training sessions for the youngsters. Over the course of the day 140 girls took part in coaching sessions which finished with small sided games.

At the end of each session the girls received information about how to find a local girls football club to join and a certificate of participation.

The girls who attended the events had the opportunity to sign England flags wishing the England Women's team luck. These flags have been sent to The FA headquarters and will be displayed in the Women's team hotel in Finland during their stay for the UEFA Women’s 2009 Finals this summer.
